NOTE: Last Wednesday I sent out a blog, If They Had Met in Prison, but due to a glitch only about half of our subscribers received it. If you were one of those who didn’t, you can read it HERE.

Those who dwell on the far edges stand in awe of your acts. You make the gateways of morning and evening sing for joy. — Psalm 65:8
Look closely at the above picture from the highlands in Scotland. There’s a lone white cottage nestled in all the awe-inspiring grandeur. How would you like to live there?
It is difficult to take a bad picture while sight-seeing Scotland. Everything seems to widen your eyes and drop open your mouth. I imagined how wonderful it would be to live in that cottage and wake up to such earthly heaven.
And yet here I am pecking away on the keyboard in the morning as a sparrow flits around the deck. Her ancestors date back to the dinosaurs. Her tiny brain orchestrates flying maneuvers unparalleled by Boeing. And tonight the tree frogs known as spring peepers will raise their chorus, each trying to outdo the other. Who taught them how to sing?
I’m quite aware that these meditations occasionally focus on focusing on the awe-inspiring miracles surrounding us each day. I guess I repeat them because it’s simply so difficult to keep that emphasis with so many distractions–from petty to profound–drawing away our attention.
We have to remind ourselves that we all live in that lone white cottage. Perhaps the more we open our eyes, the more our hearts will follow.
Yes we do.
Good stuff! There’s no such thing as too many reminders in this case.
Thanks for the reminder Greg.
There are many things that I read in the Bible which prompt many questions in my mind. I don’t know if that is an annoyance or just a desire to find answers.
Greg, I Love this reflection! It’s Back To The Basics that rejuvenate our love of Nature, Life, & our Oneness
